Plaosan Temple is not far from Prambanan Temple. This temple is an exotic temple built by Rakai Pikatan for the Empress Pramudyawadani. Uniquely, the architecture of the Plaosan Temple is a blend of Hindu and Buddhist temple architecture.

The location of the Plaosan Temple is in Bugisan Hamlet, Prambanan District. While the temple complex itself is divided into two. Namely Plaosan Kidul Temple and Plosan Lor Temple. Tara Temple is also the oldest Buddhist temple in Yogyakarta, which was built by a Rakai Panangkaran, king of the Syailendra dynasty, one of which conceptualized the establishment of Borobudur.

Location of Tara Temple is in Kalibening, Kalasan. Therefore this temple is sometimes also known as the Kalasan Temple. The manufacturing process was completed in 778 AD, and stood not far from Jalan Yogya Solo. Based on the history of the Tara Temple, it was built as a tribute to the marriage of Pancapana from the Sanjaya Dynasty with Dyah Wardhani from the Syailendra Dynasty. Aside from being a wedding present, the temple was also a response to the king's proposal to build another sacred building for Tara and the monastery for priests.
